My name is Matthew Hoey and I'm a sophomore Nursing major here at URI. I was born in Providence, Rhode Island but have lived in Lincoln, Rhode Island almost my entire life. I went to Lincoln High School where I played soccer for 3 years in the fall, and football for one year in the fall. I also played lacrosse for 4 years in the spring, while playing club soccer year-round. My senior year I tore my ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) and had knee surgery which got me interested in the medical field. I am the youngest of three brothers, both of which attended Rhode Island College. At URI, I am a brother in the Chi Phi Fraternity and also a Civility Mentor on campus. In the future, I want to work as an emergency room nurse, and eventually move on to Nurse Practitioner.
